Ebay Coilovers????
Very very poor ride. If you are just looking for an easy way to lower your car not caring what it drives or feels like, go for it, but you have to come to a complete stop for any obstacles bigger than a minor lump in the road. You feel every tiny imperfection in the road and big ones feel like you broke something, even at very slow speeds.

^^^^ I agree with both. I have ebay coilovers on my ef 4 door hatch now. It rides like **** every bump i hit feels like the car is going to fall apart. Not to mention after you put them on they lock up and cant adjust them any!! Just spend more for name brand and don't forget to get camber kits so your car don't eat the tires away
I too concur with all of the above as well. If you are referring to the ones you can buy for really cheap, then expect to have the results you see above. Every bump you will hit will cause full compression of the coils resulting in a very rough metal on metal slam and you will feel like you are ruining your car, which you are. HaHA. The only good use I could actually see for buying these is if you had a show car that you wanted to lower, but WOULD NOT drive to shows, but you would rather trailer and unload at the destination and you just want to get it nice and low to the ground on a low budget. As the census states, ebay coilovers are definitely a No - Go

SJ, I disagree with your formula. It should read: No Name Ebay coilovers = garbage. Not to be technical, but you can buy all the name brands on "ebay."
I too have had Ebay, coil over shock coilovers on an Accord and they sucked! I took them off a week later and put new "quality" shocks and springs on. It was nice after that.

i had those no brand coilover sleeve the blue ones with kyb gr2 shocks and home made extended top hats and other little custom stuff and they were stiff cant complain bout them. and my crx was pretty low.
I've gone both brand names and ebay over the years.. It all depends on what you plan on doing. Ebay sleeves aren't bad if you are just lowering your car a bit like 2 inches but if you plan on going really low go with something better.. I have the EMUSA full coilovers in my eg now. They ride stiff but they are pretty good so far. I don't get the feeling of my spine being removed from my back haha but it's on your shoulders not mine. It all depends on your budget and your opinion on too stiff or too sloppy...
Not to mention over the years we've had members post pictures of cracked sleeves and even warped springs.
You get what you pay for.
If Ebay springs were really worth buying, the price of quality parts would get driven down.
Again, one word: quality

Very true words right there. What car are they going on? Because I know of someone selling Function Form for 430 shipped for an EK....
They are still a decent set up in my opinion. No there isn't ebay logos on anything. I have bought numerous quality parts on ebay because the retail price is cheaper than direct through most companies but as far as "ebay" parts go some of the cheaper brands are stepping their game up. My friend ordered knuckles for his 240sx from godspeed because they just came out with a pretty dirty knuckle for his car. They are pretty legit if you ask me.
"Stepping their game up?". What does that even mean? How do you even know what company is even making these knock-off parts? You actually think places like Godspeed actually do any of their own manufacturing or R&D? They buy that unbranded crap and stick their names to it. That's all. Sorry if I don't take your word for it.
When you buy this stuff you only let people know you're either cheap and/or trying to impress your friends.

Why coilover? Why not just lowering springs
If your looking at eBay coilover must mean your on a low budget
If its your dd springs have smoother ride than coilovers
My guess is you would never adjust them after you put them on anyway
My 2cents

I've not seen any difference in "smoothness" between springs or coilovers. Drawback to just springs is that that you will NEVER sit even at all four corners.
What matters is the spring rate and the shock damping. Neither of which depend on whether or not you have a threaded coil sleeve.
