Default purpose of cam seal

it is always leaking and as far as i can see theres no purpose having that hole there.

am i wrong? why did honda make that cut there when theres nothing attached to it besides leaking cam seal?

can use hondabond and glue a round machined alluminum piece there to cover it dead?

or cut it in half and weld it up to both sides the head and the cam cap that way its solid and sealed

The head is line bored and is likely why the hole is there. Not sure what the cons would be if you permanently sealed it.

There would be no cons. You should replace the cam seal right away get a blox or skunk 2 machined aluminum cam seal and it'll never leak again. The OEM ones tend to bReak and leak easily. Hope this helps !

Yah that would be the best choice, a very reputable company with great products. Go with what he said for sure!

I always put a schmear of Hondabond around the stock rubber seals before I install them. They never give me a problem. The plastic ones suck though.

I picked up one of the updated seals that just snap in. No Hondabond and its been holding up for a couple months now.
