Tire Advice for 2008 Honda Civic EX Sedan
Hello, I need some help choosing new tires for my car. I have a 2008 Honda Civic EX Sedan. I live in Florida, so I need something that will handle well during the rainy season. I mostly just drive to work or local places, not much long distance driving. I am not an aggressive driver... I rarely drive above the 65mph speed limit on the greenway. I just want a decent tire that will get me where I need to be safely and that I won't have to replace again in a year. I would prefer to spend about $400, $500 max. If I am leaving out some pertinent information, please let me know. Also if there is already a thread with this information that I missed, please direct me towards it. Thanks in advance! - ashley
After the rear lower control arm TSB destroyed my rear tires in 20,000 miles, I was determined to get a quality replacement. I went to tirerack.com and read only excellent reviews on tires I could find at a reputable local shop. I ended up with Michelin Primacy MXV4, and after putting almost 40,000 miles on them, they don't even look half-worn. I read reviews of people putting 70-80 on them easily with no noises coming up later in their life. I'm in Louisiana, so I've tested heat, rain, freezing temp (not often), and they're still in good shape. I started noticing some very fine cracking on the outside sidewall, but hardly enough to cause concern. I'm sure they'll easily go 75,000 miles, but they'll cost you a little more upfront. If I hadn't gotten road hazard warranty, they probably would've been around 650, so they're probably even cheaper now. Again, I'd suggest reading reviews on tirerack.com and choosing a good quality brand.
P.S. I don't think it matter which tire you get, the suspension in this car will NEVER be extremely smooth, so don't expect that.
It probably doesn't help I put 35psi in my tires, but oh well...

I assume you are on the factory tire size? 205/55/16?
Are you looking for any type of performance/handling or just a long life tire? In you are in FL you could probably go with a summer tire year round. Might be tough having tires installed for under $500 though, unless you find a deal
