My friends car recently has a problem. When he drives the car normally and the car reaches 30mph in second, when he shifts to 3rd gear the car shutsoff as if he turned it off, no noises. Then he can't start the car for a little while. But when it finally turns over it starts normally. It only happens when hes driving and switches to 3rd gear. I saw it a coupla weeks ago. It drives fine, sounds fine. But he only has water in the radiator.

My 2 guesses electrical or overheatin?

It has been verified it's not overheating. Temp gauge works.

 

Main relay? Check for loose grounds

 

I think I know what the problem may be.Its the Throttle Position sensor.You cant buy them at parts stores at least not over here on the west coast.
They all say its dealer item only.The dealer will not just sell the sensor.it comes with the throttle body and you already know thats alot of money

I went on line and found one on ebay for like 15.00 i think at the most


But also Do what the other guy said about the relay and Ground wire too

maybe fuel filter is dirty.when was it last changed? if you dont know how long ago then it must be time
