1983 Honda Accord not starting?
I just picked up a 1983 Honda Accord, its in decent condition the only thing is it doesnt want to start. I sprayed starting fluid in the carb and it did start up but did not stay running, the only things I have to check now are if the fuel filter is clogged or maybe my fuel pump could be shot. Any other suggestions?
Have you checked that the pump is actually working? I have an 83 Civic with the same problem you mentioned (it'll crank over, and start with fluid, it's just not getting fuel to the carb), I think I've determined that it's the fuel pump relay (just haven't had a chance to replace it yet).
I'm not sure how the wiring of the fuel pump is on an 83 accord, but on the 83 civic, there's just two wires coming off the pump, if you put 12 volts to those wires, you should be at least able to test the pump while it's on the car. That'll tell you if it's the pump is good or bad. If you hear it hum when you do that, then it's not getting juice when it should be; then you know it's an electrical issue, check all your fuses and relays, and of course wiring if you think there could be a short.

Well, I've replaced the fuel filters too see if they were clogged. Unfortunately it wasn't now on to the fuel pump and or fuel pump relay, I can roughly guess where the fuel pump will be located since its an inline pump, but where would the fuel pump relay be?
Finally got the thing to start and run enough to get around the block. Now the problem is I turned it off and tried to restart it and well it was quite hard starting and then when it did start up it revved to about 4k rpms and then shuts off. Any ideas of what it could be?
Nevermind, figured it out somehow the whole carburetor loosened up so bad that it would start but as soon as it did the carb would start to lift off the intake manifold and cause waaaay too much air to get into the system.
