I have a 2001 GS-R and I recently switched my oil to mobil 1 synthetic 5W-30 I was running chevron 10W-30. I have i/h/e and I'm burning oil fast. I burnt about a quart in a three days. And when I get on it and it hits vtec it smokes quite a bit out the exhaust. Please help me. thanks.

Try going to a different oil. Castrol GTX

 

its pretty normal...go with a thicker oil or regular oil......gtx is good

 

It sounds like the rings are shot. Do a leak test. I am just speaking from experience.

my ITR smokes too....
mostly when shifting from 1st to 2nd at WOT...
I burn about a quart a week. I use castrol gtx 5W30. I also backfire a lot. I'm not too worried about it, but I'm not sure it is normal.

i just switched to mobil 1 in my 94 ex and it runs great and i haven't burned any oil yet.

 

piston ring(s) are bad.
