Ice Racing
It was brought up that there is not much information about ice racing for people that might be interested. This came up in the HPDE picture thread. I thought I would post up some information about the way we do ice racing here in Alberta, Canada.
First off there is only one club that runs ice racing events in Alberta. That club is the Northern Alberta Sports Car Club. The website can be found here with a lot of information about racing up here in the north.

Here is a quick video that covers the basics.

I know that later in the video one of our racers said that they get up to around 130km/h. He races in the chevette class which uses a spec blizzak tire with no studs / bolts. The unlimited bolted class cars can reach speeds of over 200km/h.
The rules as far as ice racing goes are pretty open. Basically a production car with whatever engine you want to run. There have been times where people have run some pretty extreme stuff. Like sprint car wings and 600+hp engines. But lately that has gone away.
If anyone has some questions I would be more then happy to answer them for you.
The beat up flat black EG at the start of that video is a car that my shop ran back when it was still around. Right now I mostly help out with safety and rescue for the club.
