Cr85R Rebuild. Need Help!
I recently bought a CR85R. Today it locked up on me.... Not sure of what happened. I have the motor pulled and sitting on a table at the moment.
I can clearly see that there are chunks of metal in the motor broken when looking past the hole for the reeds. Not sure if it was the piston fell apart or what. So what im looking at now is how do I tell if my bottom end is shot. How do I tell if my jug is still good.
Also how in the hell do I figure out how much oil is in the bike. My buddy changed it for me about 2 weeks ago then this happened. How ever both times when we drained the oil it didnt seem to have that much in it. It says on the side that it holds like 600cm2. Not sure how im supposed to mesure that. Also mixing the gas and oil how do I know how much to put to 2.5 gals. Im sorry if I have asked alot of questions but the person I thought knew about taking care of dirt bikes apparently doesn't.

gas and oil
Depends on the oil. Some like amsoil will be 100:1
100 oz gas to 1 oz oil.
Most other 2 stroke oils will be 40 or 50:1
40:1 about 3.2 oz of oil per gal of gas
50:1 2.56 oz
You can measure your oil and your premix with a ratio rite

every dealer has these
If the cylinder has vertical scrapes in it it's trashed
Bottom end shot? Pull the head and cylinder, remove whats left of the piston
from the rod. pull and push on the rod - if you can feel it move or click you
have problems there. This is just a quick and dirty test. Since you had to ask
this question you might be better off having someone look at it.

dude... you're going to need to get a factory manual so you can measure the parts to see if they are within spec. if not, just source another motor.
more than likely when a smoker grenades, the motor is done because of the porting required for a 2 stroke... that being said, you wont know until you pull it apart and stat measuring.
