93 civic d16z6 ecm issue?
I picked up a 93 civic ej with a d16z6 swap and automatic. The computer that is in it is a P06-a52 which is for 1.5 auto non vtec. I found a P28-a52 for replacement. But I need to know from the factory do the boards not have the sockets for the chip? I saw on ebay the chip swaps etc with the sockets for the chip, is this just an add on? I'm just trying to get more info. Thanks for noob question.
Found my own answer I guess I needed to search a bit better sorry. I was just wondering if the factory ones had the socket. I just found some pics. The guy I bought it from has the original it came with the p28-a52 but he said it was wet and he changed it out. I don't know. I'm having some trust issues with the dude. It has all of the vtec sensors and wired up well not a chop job. But I know it needs a different computer. I have the quality wondering idle. I checked the iacv and it is clean. The fitv I changed out for another, it was held on by only 2 bolts. I'm going to get plates today. It is also dropped way down. Starts right up though. Thanks for info. Kent
I had a similar problem with my 93 del sol si 1.6 auto.
The P28 A52 failed due to moisture and a replacement ECU fixed everything.
Does anybody know if it's a specific area on the circuit board of this P28 A52that fails due to moisture?
Is this failure common with a P28 for a stick shift car?
Is the P28 A52 fixable (simple single component on the circuit board?)
Or is my old P28 A52 now scrap?
Thanks
