what class can i run
Im looking to get into road racing.. i dont know much at all about actual event driving, i have driven on the track and i am looking to compete. I know there are some restrictions in some organizations as far as modifications to your car. I have a 93 Prelude S I swapped a 94 h22a1 into it had the head built (port polish, angled valves, springs & retainers, port matched intake mainfold i have basic bolt ons such as AEM CAI, DC SS headers, 5sigen fireball catback and a apex'i VAFC, the suspension is skunkworks on tokico illuminas... Im going to upgrade the brakes with nsx calipers and bigger rotors and get a zeal coilover suspension... with this what classes and events would i be able to compete in, will i need a roll bar or cage, are there events that i will not be alowd to compete in because of the modifications to the car.. if anyone can give me some information or lead me in the right direction i would appreciate it
Thank You

1. Buy an SCCA GCR (General Competition Rules) from http://www.scca.org Most clubs base their rules at least in part on the SCCA.
2. Your Prelude is not likely to be legal in anything but "no holds barred" classes. You don't want to race there unless you have big pockets.
3. You will need full safety gear. Minimum - cage, race seat, harness, window net, kill switch, fire suppression, and driver gear (suit, gloves, balaclava, etc).
4. Start by attending NASA HPDE or similar events. Do this for a year. Also do some autocrossing. This will give you the car control skills to be a safe and competent driver.
5. Buy a race car that somebody no longer wants. This is MUCH cheaper than building a car. Choose a low horsepower car to start - it will teach you to be smooth (no power to get make up for mistakes).
6. Ask lots of questions.

thanks for the information. If i took off my bolt ons but still have the swapped motor which is available in that car on a different trim would i be able to run it.
