I am installing the following in a 1994 Honda del Sol S (automatic transmission):

It indicates it's not for Honda's, though I've read on that site that someone has installed it on a 94 Civic w/ no issue - as far as I understand, I just don't want to use the magnet kit.

The only problem I have right now is this: the manual is telling me to connect to the VSS wire. Which wire? I have what looks like a yellow (maybe white, but looks yellow), yellow w/ blue stripe (maybe white w/ blue stripe), and black. I assume I want to use the wire w/ blue stripe, but I don't know. So ... help?

Also, what pulse per minute do I set the servo to? I assume 4000, but again .. I dont KNOW. I'm new at this stuff.

You need to use the VSS signal wire that changes color downstream of the VSS plug:

VSS plug --> Yel/Wht wire --> Yel/Blu wire --> ECU, speedo, cruise control

Don't use the Yel/Blu wire attached to the VSS plug.

 

So the wire coming out of the connector with the blue strip is what is the VSS signal wire? I assume that was it and that that is what your saying .... correct? And is it 4000ppm?

Sorry .. slightly confused ... where does the wire change color? So lets say I'm looking at the connector....I see a white wire, a white w/ blue stripe, and a black ... I dont understand where its changing color.

So in other words, I see the plug and there are 3 wires coming out ...
1. white
2. white w/ blue stripe
3. black

Your telling me if I follow these wires one is going to change color and that is the VSS signal wire? So it could be any of the three above wires?

 

If you plan to tap into the VSS signal wire at the VSS plug, it's the Yel/Wht wire. If you plan to tap into the VSS signal wire near the speedo or ECU, it's a Yel/Blu wire.

 

I don't recognize these^ as VSS plug wires, unless the Del Sol is different from the Civic. Post pictures of the VSS and plug.

 

It's pretty definitely this:

1. Yellow
2. Yellow w/ blue stripe
3. Black

So I use the yellow ONLY wire since I'm connecting it at the plug (basically where you see in the picture)? .... thanks.

 

1. Thanks Ron for your help. It was the yellow w/ white stripe near the plug.
2. So far, it appears it is 4000 ppm (a note for anyone in the future). As of now, anyway, it is working. It holds at 45 and 55. I'll test it on the highway at 65/70 later on.
