Fake ACL Rod Bearings?
Hey guys,
I have a quick question. Do fake (non-genuine) ACL Rod Bearings exist? My bro is in the process of re-building his Acura Type R and had bought a set. His car had in ACL Rod & Main Bearings before and after opening the packaging and checking the bearings we realized that the part numbers do not match and this set is wider than the ones that were in the engine before.
The guy who he bought them from has been known to sell fake cosmetic parts before like non-genuine shift *****, non-genuine recaros but told us that the acl bearings were genuine. Now he's refusing to take back the part or to even give a partial refund because we opened the packaging.

I won't disagree. It was a dumb move but at the time of purchase he was the only person with ACL bearings in stock and we could not get genuine bearings to purchase from the regular suppliers here. In the urgency to get the engine finished and after googling 'fake acl bearings' and not coming up with any answers we decided to buy them.
Ok so I got the part number from my bro and decided to check it out on the ACL website (shud've done this first... kmt) turns out the acl bearings he sold us is the following:

He's insisting that they are for B18C1 and B18C5 engines as well and still refuses to refund the money.
Just thinking about it making the Jamaican patois want to come out aka him wah 2 bloodclaat shot.
Anyhow, going to try and sell them at a small loss and see if we can get another set from someone else.

the correct ACL part number for B18C1 & B18C5 is 4B1925H (for future reference).
What you have there is a set of ACL Race standard bearings. This means that they are to be used on a crankshaft has not been turned down. In other words, the journals are the same dimensions as they came from the factory. The rod bearings you have there will not work for a GSR nor a Type R Crank. The rod journals on both cranks are more narrow than the b18b1, b18a1, b20, and I believe the b17a1 as well. ( I could be wrong about the B17a1 though). You can however use the main bearings that you have there on your R crank. The main journal diameter is the same for all the b series cranks. All you need to do is get the correct ACL Race standard Rod bearings for your crank. This is assuming you have a type R crank (or gsr) and it the rod journals haven't been turned down. The correct part number for a standard ACL Race Rod bearing for an R crank is 4B1925H. Good luck.
