Icon2 1999 Civic LX L.E.D. Tailights

Hi ya'll First post
Why don't they make L.E.D. Taillights for a 1999 Honda Civic LX, which only came in a four-door? I cannot find them anywhere. Does anyone know of a reputable company that makes them? I thought the 1999 Honda Civic Coupe would fit but apparently they are different OEM part numbers to begin with. Can they really be all that different? I tried searching within the forum but cannot seem to find an answer. Sorry if it is in here somewhere.

Thanks in advance!!

Yes they are that different. No. I don't know of any "reputable" company that makes these because these are knock-offs with no standards to them with the exception of maybe TYC. If you want those fads style lights Ebay is your only bet.

Yes, I have seen some 4door EK on ebay just last night while looking for some OEM tails for my car.

TYC and DEPO are the only brands I would trust.

Thanks for both of your replies. I will do some more research with TYC and DEPO brands. I have searched them before but they did not have any for the four door. It is always for the two Civic. or different year LX. Thanks again!! I will also try ebay.

Maybe try building your own. It's not all that difficult and can be a lot of fun. Especially since you get to choose what type of LED to use and how they are arranged.

I converted mine last spring and am currently working on my brothers car right now.

aftermarket led tails arent great.. use cheap leds and the they might leak... you can make your own using good led but you have to cut your lights.. it gets expensive.. I spent 300 on leds and parts.. I did my own labor..

Thanks for all the advice.

Joon Joon and Blazin Si, do either of you have a write up on how to build my own LED tails?
Sounds like fun!! I do not know where to begin to build my own.

Thanks in advance

its not that fun haha.. it took me like a week to finish.. and like i said, it does get pretty expensive.. if you know how to solder, its pretty easy.. the hardest part is cutting the tails open..

here are my boards.. dont have the reverse light board pictured since i was waiting for my leds.. i believe i had like 300+ leds in all..

There are a bunch of DIY's all over the internet. You'll probably want to start small and work on something that is not as important as a tail light. The dome light would be a good one. If you find that you like working on circuits, then work your way up to the bigger projects.

9 months ago I didn't even own a multimeter and now I've probably spent over $5k on LED's, circuit components and testing equipment.

I will have to do more research into building my own and learn how to solder. I at least already have a multimeter . Thanks for all your advice. Where do you guys buy your LEDs?

Thanks again in advance
