I'm not sure what is causing the oil consumption. I haven't gotten the motor checked thoroughly to actually do a full diagnosis as to what may be causing it.
I can't say for sure what the rate of consumption is. If I had to put it in perspective, I changed the oil every 3,000 miles. Within the 3,000 miles, the dipstick would read low within the 2,500 - 3,000 mile range.
