Default Fitting a 12v power socket to my bike question

I picked up one of these for cheap at the bike store the other day because they had them for sale for 9.99 (down from 19.99) I know some come with a fuse and some don't, well mine didn't. Is it a good idea for me to run an inline 30amp fuse before installing on my bike? I will be using it to plug in my Garmin Navi.

Which Garmin model are you using? An average size GPS is only going to pull around 1-2 amps max, so a 30 is going to be way too high. Shoot for a mini blade fuse holder and pop a 3 amp fuse (Violet) into it and you're good to go.

garmin nuvi 255? i think, i'll take your advice and go with the lower amp fuse. i just happened to have an inline blade holder with 30 amps in them, i'll just swap em out for something smaller.
