problems with my new 89 civic wagon
Hey everyone, I'm new to the site and new to the honda world but I'm hoping everyone here is nice and can help me out a bit. I bought the car for $250 on saturday and as I was driving it home the brakes went out. I drove it home and checked it over and can't find anything wrong. I have plenty of meat on the pads and the lines are fine, but the pedal sinks straight to the floor unless I pump it alot before i try to stop.
Thats my first problem lol...
My second problem is that I bought an RTAWD, but ..... theres no rear driveshaft. (this is of coarse my luck not to notice this before i bought it) I was hoping someone could tell me where I can find the second half of the drive shaft that attaches to the rear end in the car or if theres something similar I can bolt in place of it. I've only found 1 so far and the guy wants $500 for it. I cant see spending that much on this car just yet. Also I believe the car was used as a woods buggy by the guy so the underside is all dented and smashed, no big deal really, I can't see anything major that was hit.
Finally my last problem is when I'm sitting at a dead stop and step on the gas too hard it seems to bog down or sometimes almost die. Does anyone know what could be causing this?
I hope you guys can help me out, another forum I was on rejected every post I made so I couldn't get any help from them.

Your brake problem can be your brake master cylinder had the same problem on a eg that i had. i barely got it steped on it a bit to see how it pulled and i pushed on the brake to slow down n wow i couldnt n almost crashed n that ended up being my problem.. or you just need to bleed them..
first off welcome to honda tech
brake problem , id also check the booster and the master cylinder.
awd .. ebay if you want a stock ? im not too familiar with the awd tho , someone should be able to point you in a better spot tho .
as for dying , check your fuel filters. the one mounted to the fire wall and the in tank .
best of luck !

I really hope I don't have to get the master cylinder replaced, how can I check the master cylinder? I'm gonna be bleeding the brakes today after I take a look at the rest of the car and do an oil change.
I found only 1 driveshaft on ebay for $85 but its for an 85 civic. Will this fit in the 88-91 models?
Ill look into the fuel filters, is there anything else I should check out right away since this poor little car has been used and abused?
Thanks for helping me out.
