Can I install an alarm on a civic without power windows and locks?
Hey everyone,
I was just wondering since VX do not come with power windows, doors, etc. Would i still be able install an alarm? I live around an area pretty sketchy that would probably be infested with thieves that would sometimes take a chance to steal a car if they had the chance.

I don't have power windows or locks from the factory either.
Just install some power lock actuators for your doors and wire them to the alarm. Pretty simple.

Sorry to thread jack but im sort of in the same situation with my 95 cx hatch. Do they necessarily have to be door lock actuators from a Honda or could I use eBay ones? They look like they should work but i'm no genius. It's this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-UNIVERSA...ht_3328wt_1037
I would get something from a trusted brand. Honda-actuators may not even work, but DEI makes some, and many time the actuators are designed for cars that already don't have power locks.
Here you go: http://www.deiproducts.com/servlet/t...e-Power/Detail
This is exactly what I have. They work great. They lock and unlock with my alarm.
And here they are on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Install-Essent...7861134&sr=8-1
Just as a side note, this is the alarm I plan on getting once I get my swap done: http://www.amazon.com/Python-991-Res...3028647&sr=1-1

Between you and I, I would chose something a bit more reliable, but some people want to go the Ebay route.
Why don't you just go to a junkyard and yank some actuators from a fairly new, wrecked vehicle? Get something OEM and probably dirt cheap. An actuator is an actuator, they're just solenoids.
The one that came in the kit my buddy gave me, (looks the same) is still fine after a year.
I also used the 451M, makes it very simple to install!
can you somehow step by step me through what you did? haha sorry newbie.
Hooking up the 451m? It will come with instructions, just me, you'd have to be a dummy to mess it up. lol
The only tricky part is finding a spot to place the acutators, that wont interfere with the door pannel.
Other that, you simply run 2 wires from the 451m1 to each door, for the unlook/look.
Other then the 451m has power/ground. (tap into alarm power/ground for this. And then it should have 1 wire going to the keyless output on the alarms brain.
As far what?

Since no one has mentioned it yet, you don't need power locks at all for an alarm. A friend of mine has a hatch with a viper alarm, no power locks, it's just hooked up to the door switches for the dome light, and there's an impact sensor hooked up.
Absolutely true. We have the hatch alarmed. No power anything.
You can still install an alarm, just don't expect the power door lock button on it to do anything.
