Default Extended top hat hood clearance

Whats the most extension you can add to the factory top hats, and still be able to close the EF hood without any modification?

I did 1.25" and I had to notch the hood, maybe 1" would work?

The threads on the top of the shocks rubbed on hood reinforcement. These were koni shocks and the top adjusters did not contact the hood skin. Extending 1.25" severely limits droop travel, so you need to go fairly low in ride height.

i dont have adjustment ***** on the shafts, and yes, im dragging flaps in the front but shocks are compressed 1.5 inches farther than recommended.

so i should be good with 1.25"? i dont mind cutting away some hood reinforcement

By all means, go 1.25" and trim the hood reinforcement then, hood skin will be fine. However, going from 1.0 to 1.25 doesn't actually buy you anymore bump travel.

you could also space your hood up a bit and not have to cut away at the webbing.. check ebay.. im not sure of the size of the tophats.. but i know a couple people running them
