I am looking to see if anyone is running a Precision 6766 ball bearing Billett Turbo.

Im curious to see what the spool time is on the turbo, What A/R exhaust housing your running.

I will be using this turbo on a street car. My friend is running a 6765 Journal on his street car and its seems slugish but once spooled works great he is making about 450 on low boost.

Thoughts

 

Curious to see if the ball bearning helps any. I have used a few journal PT's and they are a bit sluggish on the spool side, but they dont lag once they get going (as you stated, lol).

 

Yeah, I would think It should make a significant difference. My friend is running the 6765 Billett Journal Bearing with an 82 A/R exhaust housing. I think with a .63 A/R exhaust housing and it being a ball bearing it should spool rather quick. I cant decide i am almost leaning towards a 6262 Billett Ball Bearing as well but I want room to grow I guess and who doesnt like the look of a big nasty turbo.

 

Just go with the 6765 if your trying to go bigger, it'll still spool up pretty quick being DBB compared to the 6262.

 

6765H is the shiznit thats what im runnin its a beast from hell when that thing spools! Im runnin a divided 1.15 A/R hot side on a open flange T4 manifold FML... on my H22A and its at full boost at 5k just imagine if I switched to an .68 A/R or .82 A/R open flang hot side that thing would sool a whole hell of alot sooner! Im gonna to a open flange.68 A/R when I get some moolah but I have to live with the 1.15 A/R for now because thats what it came with when I bought it from my hommie

 

I agree bro the Precision Billett turbo series are great. I think the BB turbo should be sick I know the 6765 are kinda the old thing I guess being that they developed the 6766 now Im thinking of running ther PortedH housing I think thats the one that is designed liek the borg warner compressor housing

 

oh yeah you will pick up at least 1000 rpm's of spool going from Journal bearing to Ball Bearing depending on your motor and setup I would have went ball bearing but it was 500 bux extra and for just a fun street warrior it didnt matter if I had a little more lag

Going from journal to ball bearing char gives you a few hundred rpm in spool difference but transient turbo response is greatly increased. ( respool)

 

I just ordered a 6766 1.32 journal.

If this is a true street car and you are that concerned with spool time, etc.....go with the 6262. I have a 6765 journal bearing and it makes great power but is pretty sluggish when compared to a true street turbo setup. Car spins way too hard on the street even when controlling boost and big tires.

 

6262 bb is a good choice as well.

 

Either choice should be good ill give precision a call. see what kind if a deal they they can work me if not I'm also considering a turbonetics gtk turbo with there new billett wheel.as well

Only with one... T72.....But it did me in. 550hp at 27 psi, switched to the garret t67 and made over 700 easily. That's all I'll elaborate on

 

it must be their crapy turbine design

 

Funny that's said, considering Precision has been using Turbonetics turbine wheels until the 66mm was introduced.
