i donno i tend to see more gsr swaps than anything. but it prob has to do with the fact its one of the newer engines and produces the most power from the factory or atleast i think(someone correct me if im wrong since im not a k series fanboy)
b series (regular vtec)
f series (regular vtec)
k series (regular vtec + cam phasing)

K20 (newest ones) has the most power and torque (i think torque since it's 2L, but maybe not more than H series since they're 2.2L) than most of the other Honda 4cyl, right out of the box. It has a VTEC head, so it flows like crazy.
They have the best flowing heads, even the ones that are not "full VTEC" (meaning vtec on only intake camshaft)
They have larger dispacement than the B-series
They have huge aftermarkett support
They have "intelegent VTEC" where you can tune cam overlap and optimize this overlap (someone can elaborate more here)
They are very new and incorporate innovations in many other areas as well IE: stronger internalls, specifically the sleeves, but lets not forget the fuel injectors are also newer technology as well.
Downside... cost A LOT... but this will come down in time. Im a b-series guy, and probably always will be, but i do respect what the K-series platform brings to the table... although i still think the fastest car (turbocharged) is still a b-series.

so where would i get a k20 engine and all the parts to build it, and what would be the best matching transmission? cause i know the stock wont be able to hold the power, and it will be for a 92-95 hatch
or actually can i just do a k20 swap and use the stock trans and make it's internals stronger? i want to make like around 300hp, i want to build a car that i can have fun with and that can keep up with evo's and sti's
Its the newest dual cam 4cyl engine series released from Honda...basically the new-age replacement for the B series. Its better in almost every way...aside from cost
If that's all you're shooting for, I wouldn't waste the money on a K.
id say realistically that u could do a nice b18c swap and nice turbo setup for the same price of a stock k swap. on most k swaps u can expect anywhere from $7-12k for a complete turn key setup. u have to have custom everything for the k swap.. b series bolts right in with very little mods. thats my 2 cents. do lots of research before u buy.. good luck

ok but where are the parts availible.....? i need websites so i can compare and start pricing.
and here is the hatch im looking at, but the guy is asking way to much, i know i have to look at it and test dive but what do you guys think it's worth? heres what the ad says:
Here is my 1994 Honda civic si hatchback. Eg hatchback with original sohc VTEC 1.6 4 cyl motor. This car is 5 speed manual transmission as all si models were. Hard to believe yes but 58,000 original miles. Adult owned. I am the 2nd owner. You will not find a cleaner 94 civic. Serious inquiries only.
Car has:
New paint job done in march.
16" mb graphite rims
Brand new bf Goodrich kdw tires
AEM cold air intake
$800 sound system
New ignition (oem)
New alternator
And more etc..

New paint job = wrecked/rusted out... Walk away.
K-series is just the new H-series = a fad
The B-series will always be the "go to" engine.

you really think i should walk away? i dont have much experience with hondas, do people who say got it painted, does that usually mean something was wrong? like u said rust or wrecked?
Yea, that add has sketchy written all over it. 58K miles yet needed all those new parts? What's his asking price? And personally, I'd tell him to knock off $800 and keep his system.
