Default itr lsd?

Anyone know if there's a way to tell difference between an ITR LSD and an LSD from a JDM B16?

Transmission name on a JDM B16A LSD should be stamped Y1, while ITR transmissions are stamped S80.

What kind of LSD is in our cars?

I've heard helical, I've heard torsen.

I've heard that torsen is the kind in the Si, and acts as an open diff if one wheel has no traction at all. However, I've heard that our cars won't do that.

The old school 90-91 cable tranny with optional lsd was called a y1 from a B16A. The newer hydro tranny found on obdI cars in Japan were known as a Y21

Helical and torsen are interchangeable terms. They're both worm gear type diffs. They both work on torque multiplication. And they're both open if one wheel is off the ground.

But I thought our Rs don't do that "one wheel off the ground spinning" thing?

I thought that is how many people break the OEM differential.

A preloaded helical differential would be nice.
