skunk2 lowering springs questions.
94 eg hatch, i install my new skunk2 springs with new stock shocks an it seems it didn't drop enough an the back end clunks when i go bumps. anyone have any idea was going on. thanks for any advice.
Yeah. They're Skunk 2s springs WITH STOCK SHOCKS!!!!! Sounds like you have them somehow installed incorrectly. There should be no clunking.
I don't think you installed incorrectly. I had the same set up on my 93 eg hatch and the rear clunked over bumps. It is most likely the rear shocks hitting the perch (bottoming out) on large bumps since they aren't meant to handle such an aggressive drop. As for not dropping enough mine took a few days before they settled totally but they were pretty damn low when they did.

With almost 300lb/inch springs in the rear, I doubt your bottoming out.
You need to remove the assembly and check over everything!
Did you clock the bushings when you installed?
Also, from what I have been told, a quality spring should NEVER "settle". That "settling" you see is your bushings tearing.
How big of bumps are we talking here?

It would clunk with most average potholes. My car only had 40k miles on it and the bushings were mint so I really don't think that was it either. I'm no suspension pro but aren't the stock shocks only supposed to handle a like 200lb/inch rate? The higher rate of lowering springs would cause them to compress prematurely then wouldn't it? This is why for performance and comfort you need an appropriate shock to handle a given spring rate.
Yes, and no. My rear shocks handled my 350lb skunk2 coilovers for almost a year before they blew.
My fronts no quite as long, but they are 650lb.
Honestly, I think it would be the opposite. The shock would compress slower due to the increased spring rates.
That said, even with my blown rear shocks, I still have never once bottomed out the rear of my car. Not once.
Still shouldn't be making any noise. When I bought this car the kid had them slammed on Ebay coilover sleeves and stock shocks that were blown. Still didn't make any noises. Sounds like the spring isn't properly seated or it's clattering against something.
My friend put skunk 2 coilover sleeves with stock new shocks on his prelude last summer and the rear didn't lower but like an inch. The spring seemed to short and didn't seat well. It's was installed properly but problem was they were STOCK shocks which was a no no. He had to leave the rear spring seat adjusted about 80% of the max height for it to sit right. It still looks ok but he can't lower it any lower.
No an I was running onmipower Coilover street/drag ones an no clunking. But they were stiff so I was trying this new set up. But I notice that the big arm bushing is ripped a little
The last two posts both said yes. Also, like FanBoy said, check to see if your exhaust piping is hitting the LCA. It'll be easy to tell, since there will be little dings in your piping.
