Default Hard to shift into first gear when stopped.

Okay so in my integra, it is hard to put it into first gear when the car is cold, and most of the time when the car is stopped.

When i am slightly rolling to a stop it slides in like butter, and same when the engine is off. Also it seems that when the car warms up to normal temperature it sometimes doesn't have a problem going in to first gear at all.

Im thinking clutch hydraulics or possibly a worn pressure plate??

If anyone has any other ideas that would be awesome because the car is parked for the winter and i would like to sort this out before march

You could try changing the MTF, when I changed mine it made going into first much easier.

Im thinking clutch hydraulics
If this is a '90, you have a CABLE, not hydraulics.

Check the freeplay. Grab the cable in the engine compartment, and pull it up. Can you easily get about 3/16" of air between the plastic nut and its seat?

Throwout bearing or clutch. As said above what year is your car?

How many miles are on the clutch? Has the car been driven hard?

I'm leaning towards throwout bearing or clutch disc spring beginning to break away from its mount.

Have not had time to go down to storage and check. but i will do this soon and report back.

The car is a 1990 integra. so that means i have a cable then. The clutch was replaced before i bought the car, but i have no idea how old it is but seeing as how much grab i have left on it i would say she needs replacing soon anyway.

!threadjack!

'I have a 2001 gsr hydo trans and have these same issues-
to combat this i downshift til the rpm's are low then push the clutch petal and take it outta gear. And when its cold in the morning and wont go in R' i put it in 3rd then she slides in R'.
Also my torque mounts are shot. Im going to fill new ones w/ polyurethane. Hopefully this fixes the problem. Next fix is throw out bearing.

Replace clutch assembly and you'll be set.

Or just downshift to second, keep your foot on the clutch and pull away in second, or turn the car off, put in first then restart it.

Thanks, i will be doing that when i pull the motor and change the clutch.

also, they way i have been driving it and it doesn't give me any issues is when i am coming to a stop in 2nd i push the clutch in and it slides into 1st no problem as long as i am still rolling. Just became a habit for me because i was driving the car like that for 6 months.

How do you know for sure that's the problem? I bumped it to see if anybody else had any input to share on my issue. Is there something wrong with that sir?

had a problem with this in a 99 gsr. the pressure plate bolts backed out you can check them by taking out the starter.
also in my da after i put in my act clutch i had to readjust the freeplay, thats worth a shot if its cable.
if its hydro check for fluid in the boots on the clutch slave and master cylinders the seals could be going out. low fluid, air in the lines, swelling of the hose.
theses are the places i would look before pulling the tranny if all that is good then something in the clutch assembly.
also i would hope its full on fluid and you check it regularly.

Asked around at some shops and most people said it could be our syncros.
