Remove the battery. Tip it on its side so the damaged corner is above the acid level. Make sure any fluid leaking from the top goes someplace where damage won't occur, such as a metal pan. Go buy some JB Weld (any auto parts store), and patch the hole according to the directions on the product. Refill battery with water, install, then drive the car for a while to recharge the battery.

i would try taking it back saying its faulty and see if they will replace it, i always get at least one year wuarantee wth batterys, when u get the new one put your battery tie down back on so it doesnt slide around and brake again. if they wont take it back the jb weld will work then top it up with distilled water and your good to go.

Warranty will not apply to a batt. that has physical damage, best bet is as mentioned JB Weld, do as TheRealTegger suggests tilt batt. so hole is at top, clean area with some alcohol, [not the kind you drink] fill hole with JB Weld cover with a piece of duct tape, top off the batt. and your good to go, $10-$15 repair, we have made that repair more then once at our shop, we charge 1/2 hr, [$40] for that "fix".

Also as mentioned, bolt/strap the batt. down. 94

Jeezzz he must have got out of the right side of the bed that morning, we are an Interstate batt. dealer and they bend over backwards for customer service but physical damage to the batt. [from the outside] will not be covered, if we take one back, they will not replace it for us.
You had a good day 94

Warranties here in the states don't usually cover purposeful damage or damage due to carelessness or misuse.

For example, beating the product with a sledge hammer or dropping it would normally not be covered.

Not so, yes you can get "extended" warranty but not for "anything", places like Canadian Tire and others will on some occasions replace a batt. that has other then a manufacturers defect, but that is just customer service, we have done it on occasion, a good repeat customer is not going to be sent on his/her way because they made a mistake, we will eat the batt. sell it for scrap and keep the good repeat customer, however, read...

That goes for Battery Direct, [the other big guy] also...
"BATTERY DIRECT WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BATTERIES THAT FAIL DUE TO IMPROPER CHARGING OR INSTALLATION, CONTAINER, COVER OR TERMINAL DAMAGE, SULPHATION OR DEHYDRATION FROM PROLONGED STORAGE AND NON-USE, FIRE DAMAGE, EXCESSIVE HEAT, WRECKAGE EXPLOSION OR FREEZING, THE ADDITION OF ANY SUBSTANCE OR THE FAILURE TO PROPERLY MAINTAIN THE BATTERY"

Although they will also bend over backwards for some customers, they just replaced a set of batt. that were off warranty for a customer of ours, one of the batt. was damaged because of too many full discharges due to a parasitic draw, BD replaced both the batt, [Chevy diesel PU].

I know of no batt. manufacturer that will replace a batt. under "any" circumstance. 94

honestly i called once right after i saw the damage and it was a lady who said NO they cant replace it, but i had my moms call and it was later that night the kid who helped me out kind of did me a favor he didnt have to exchange it because it was my fault for not strapping it down properly and checking on it before it got worse ...im just thankful i didnt have to spend my last bits of money or catch on fire
