Default 2003 Accord Issues

I just picked up a 2003 Accord LX, 2.4L, Auto, w/ 83,000 miles and I am not really happy with it over the last 3 weeks. Ive had numerous hondas (civic, crx, accord) in the past, just older...

I like the car, there are just a few things that I need to figure out. I have done nothing to it other than change the oil.

Issues:

- Consistently getting 23 MPG of easy driving (BIGGEST ISSUE)

- Shutters under acceleration between 3500 and 4000 rpm

- Rear wheel bearings going out, loud.

- Slight steering wheel shake at highway speeds

- Definite steering wheel shake during breaking

Any suggestions for the MPG would be great.
Thanks in advance.

all those issues are related to consumables... nothing really wrong with the car, or so it sounds, except for some maintenance issues.

How's the air filter looking? Get that wheel bearing fixed and your tires balanced.

Before I condemned a wheel bearing, I would make sure the tires aren't cupped and feathered. Tire noise can be easily mistaken for wheel bearing noise. The shutter under acceleration could be a bad drive shaft inner joint. Steering wheel shake during braking is most likely the brake rotors. You can get them machined to a flat surface and take care of that. I would put Honda brake pads on the car if they aren't already. You probably won't get too much better than 23 or 26 mpg in the city. So you may just have to deal with that.

you probably need new spark plugs for the misfiring issues.
New axles to fix the shaking at high speeds
new brakes and rotors to fix the bumpy ride while braking
