Radio not working - Electrical issue
Hello,
I have an aftermarket deck installed in my 1997 Honda Accord (4DR, 2.2, A/T). It's always worked fine. Recently, I installed a Sirius Satellite radio which is powered by the 12V outlet.
The outlet had been giving me some trouble (There was background noise coming through the speakers, that would change if i wiggled the plug). A few days ago, I was moving it as the noise was especially loud, and I went to pull out the plug...Well, the whole outlet came out, and now neither my stereo nor the outlet work. I noticed the outlet just screws in, if I remove the center console, and screw it back in, will it work? Or could something else be amiss.
Thanks,
Matt

sounds like faulty wiring there.. You should take it back to wherever you got it installed and have them fix it.. if your a diy'er get a fuse tester and check your wires for power..
I installed it myself a few years ago, is the 12v power outlet in any related to the stereo power? It all stopped working at the same time.
i have had this problem many times using the 12v cigarette lighter as a power source-mine was powering my ipod. you can try to reground the 12v source elsehwere or most audio shops have a noise reducer that installed on the power and ground wires for the 12v source to get rid of any extra noise.
Of course there are fuses to be checked as well.....relay test, ect.
ive installed a few stereos in the past and honestly i wouldnt even mess around with the wiring it always turns into a pain in the ***. if you take it to a stereo shop, they will usually test them for free since its so simple. i was tweaking around with the one i got for christmas for like a week and i finally gave in and went to the shop. he told me what wire was wrong in like 1 minute.
I would check fuses first.
Take off the the panel, and see how the 12 volt plug fits in, typically there is a plug going to the 12 volt port, see if came unplugged, or you can order another one from the dealer.
Look at number 53.....
As a side note 54 is the harness itself that plugs into the 12volt, if that is damaged you can get that too.
