Icon2 b20b swap motor question!

hey all picked up a new b20b about two weeks ago for my ej6

got a chance to take off valve cover tonight and i noticed some scratches on the cams and walls of the head. im pretty sure its from over heating but not too sure. was just wondering what you guys thought of this.

i was planning on changing the cams out anyways, but will some scratches affect anything else?

it all looks pretty good besides the small scratches! just looking for some of yours guys input, still kind new to the whole thing, only 17! but im learning!

thanks guys!

What does you being 17 have anything to do with it? If you're swapping out cams anyway then this is a non-issues. Take the head to a machine shop and have them check it out.

Mine had this to. Just marks from machining. I would look for little flakes of metal in oil just in case but no moving parts there so its probably nothing.

those marks are completely random, seems strange. i guess just pull the cams and make sure there's no damage in the journals.

I have had about 11 or 12 different b series (b18b1 b18a1 b18c1 b16a) and all of them had those marks. I think thats where the factory ground down the slag from them being cast. Nothing to worry about...
