d15 missing valve spring retainers???
I'm rebuilding my little sisters 90 lx W/d15b2.. got the springs off, and it does not have any bottom retainers.. not the keepers or the top retainers, but the retainer that the spring sits on to keep it from sliding around. I have seen engines that do not come with them, but from what I can remember d15's have them..?? or am I wrong?
there's nothing under the spring like I have usually seen on my other hondas. my h23 had retainers, my single cam vtec had em, so did my zc dual cam... should have retainers I thought. I don't believe the springs are supposed to ride right against the cylinder head. also puts a bit more pressure on the springs, I was able to remove all of the springs by hand, the springs are fairly loose..
lol, whatever they are called. I'm having problems figuring out if it came with them factory.. it seems wrong that they are not there

so it is definately missing the seats then huh.. the whole reason I pulled it down was to do valve seals(smoked WAAY bad), looks like someone just rebuilt. fresh looking gaskets, new Tbelt and waterpump.. missing seats!
I was gonna say I don't even know how those valves stayed strait and not seating all the way without the seat. I bet they were loose. Did it have any noise?
the valve guides still kept em straight, but yes it definately had noise lol. was super chattery, I figured it just needed a lash adjustment badly..
