It looks like they could be made from a lighter alloy..like titanium maybe.

I have a set. I think they're forged, anodized aluminum. They're different than the Skunk2 pieces. They're also much lighter than the Kyokugen nuts. One box of four of the Axas nuts weighed about the same as one of my chrome nuts that came with my old Racing Hart ST6 wheels. I'm using them with my TE-37's and they match the bronze almost perfectly. Whew-I never thought i'd be this long winded about lugnuts

You oftentimes can't use OEM type lugnuts because the seat of the nut is shaped differently. Some are flat angled, others are "acorn" shaped. If you get the wrong kind for your wheels you can end up pulling the lugnuts THROUGH the wheel. I've seen it happen (in motion)......its not pretty.

Check and make sure that your lugnuts are appropriate for the application! Safety first!

The weight of the lug nuts really doesn't matter at all. I would be cautious about using aluminum for lug nuts though. Aluminium has diferent thermal expansion/contraction characteristics and I would be very affraid of them working themselves loose over the course of a road race (or even just on a long road trip)

Well, every little bit of weight saved adds up, but yeah, its pretty negligible. Your point is taken about the physical characteristics, but I would point out that any thermal problems would occur under issues of heavy and repeated braking, which you would be unlikely to encounter on a long road trip.

"Aluminium has diferent thermal expansion/contraction characteristics"

I must be missing something by this quote. I'm using the Axas lugs(forged aluminum) with forged aluminum wheels- same material.

These look identical to the Buddy Club lugs. They have the same packaging and everything except it doesn't say "Axas" up top, it has the Buddy Club logo. I'll try and find a pic.

I have the same set up.

Yes light weight lug nuts are not that critical but unsprung weight is the worst kind

These are now called Daiyama Ultra-Lightweight Racing Lugs. I just got a set for my rims, and they are pretty light. It also says Titanium Gold Finish. Now I just need extended wheel studs.....

What makes those so much better then the Axas lugs? They look the same to me. I don't plan on extending my studs, do they look bad with out the longer studs?

Well as InlineFour puts it, "Daiyama!! (formely known as AXAS)," so I guess these AXAS lugs are the older version and I got the updated version. It also states on that site, " The quality of these lugnuts are much better then the previously offered AXAS." So I don't know if they are any better, cause i have nothing to compare it to, I just needed lugs fast. Goodluck.
