Is it me or did this guy not care?
Been e-mailing piston companies to get information on their pistons. Working on my sleeved H22A4 but I want 10-1 pistons for my turbo and no one seems to carry pistons that can handle the boost unless they are 9-1. I got an email back from CP and they were very helpful but they said I need to get custom pistons. The last company was Mahle but this guy doesn't seem to want to answer a simple question.
Subject:are these pistons able to turbo?
Message: Mahle HON220425F01 10-1 87mm Sleeved motor. Can they take turbo?
Answer:Hello Rob -
The compression ratio of 10:1 is a little high for turbo, unless you run E85 fuel.
Kind regards,
Second email.
Thank you for getting back to me, but I still need to know if HON220425F01piston design is strong enough for say 18 lbs of boost? Yes at a later date e85 is in the plans but at this time 92 oct is the plan. If that design isnt designed to handle boost, do you make custom pistons? At what cost?
Answer:Sure. Go ahead and turbo them.
Kind regards,
Now it may be me but I don't get alot of pride or enthusiasm in this response. Its hard to take this and want to put $500 pistons in a $2000 bottom end.

i would be asking questions more like what horsepower, not what boost. the amount of boost is subject to the size of the turbo...a t25 at 18 psi is a different beast than t3/04 60 trim at 18 pis.
I think JE will make you custom pistons for $650 a set, or at least that was the last tiem i checked abt a year ago. At the time, the off-the-shelf pistons were 600 so 50 bux for custom exactly what you want is a small price to pay I think. Talk to JE, see what they say, and report back!

He doesn't care because you're asking vague and generally uneducated questions. In return you got vague and generally uneducated answers.
"Hi I'm looking to make X amount of power w/ this turbo at around this psi. X c/r is necessary to accomplish my goal and I was wondering if your piston was capable of performing reliably under these conditions"
