need to confirm if a steering knuckle off a 1991 Civic Sedan (DX or LX) would fit and work on a 1990 Crx Si ???

cause i was at a junkyard looking at the knuckle they had, but the guy who worked there was saying that he thought it might not fit because the 1991 Civic Sedan has 13" wheels and my CRX has 14" wheels ?, he just said the rotor & calipers might be too big or too small or something like that . . .?

but he said the bolt pattern of the lugs should be the same,

i already bought it, cause i could just take it back if i find out it does'nt fit, so thats why i got on here so i could find out if it does or not, so i can know whether to keep it or to take it back.

can i just get a confirmed answer if it works on a 90 CRX Si or not ?

ive got a set of 91 dx hubs on my 89 std hatch. mainly cause i did the 5 speed tranny swap and the 5 speed axles wont fit into the 4 speed hubs

 

Yes... It fits. If you want to get crazy... Grab a set of 90-91 civic ex sedan or 90-93 integra knuckles and calipers... (which I believe are are the same as the crx SI knuckles) run the larger rotors.. 10.9" or close to that. The dx knuckles run the smaller calipers and 9.5" discs. Do this... Google "brakes 101" and find the link to CRX Community. It has the whole run down and is very informative.

 

i have heard of doing that "big brake" upgrade stuff before, but really i was'nt going to get into all of that, i only needed to replace the bent knuckle on the passenger side.

you said i should take some knuckles & calipers off a 90/91 Civic Sedan EX (which are bigger), and put on my car to upgrade, i'm confused cause i thought the EX Civic Sedan had the same knuckles as the DX or LX ? which would fit the Civic/CRX 88-91 ??

reason i say this is i am just going by what i found on this site, i think Tyson said it or something?, but they said that : the (Si, DX, EX, LX) are all interchangeable with the (88-91) Civic/CRX, and the only ones that won't work is HF or STD models of (88-91) Civics or CRXes, cause the knuckles are smaller and don't fit.


do you know if all that is true and correct for sure ?? Tyson is real knowledgable about lot of stuff and i usually trust what he says, but just had to make sure since you were saying how the EX has bigger knuckles or calipers ??

 

man i wanna do that but im afraid that the rotors wont fit into my 13 inch del slow blades

 

crxaddikt, the knuckles are the same. (from an 88-91 Civic LX/DX and an 88-91 CRX Si)

The 90-91 EX Civic Sedan does have bigger front brakes/rotors so the knuckles are different, but good luck finding a set of those anywhere.

You can also use 90-93 Integra front kuckles/brakes but you have to get an alignment for sure and might need a camber kit.

while i got you on here, i just wanted to run another question by you in case you might know the answer to this one too ? . . . . . .

i need to get a front cross-member (also called traction bar), cause mines all bent up and mechanic said i need to get a straight one so everything is positioned correctly.

so would you know if theres any other EF models from (88-91) that has a front cross-member that would also fit and work with the 1990 CRX Si ? anyone know ?

 

all 88-91 CRX and Civic front cross members are the same
