so i dont know whats up with this but ive had it happen to myself and my buddys car in the past year. the whole bearing is spinning in the knuckle instead of just the inner race spinning with the hub.
does the weight of the car keep it from happening when you are driving? im getting a little tired of pulling the knuckles off and replacing the bearings. btw they are installed properly with a shop press and then c clipped in place. this happening to anyone else?

ya that's not supposed too happen. either the old bearing had spun and kinda bored it out like mentioned above, or it's not the correct size bearing... if the bearing is the correct one it's time too replace the whole knuckle.
538-2 Hub W/Spindle Fwd Car $21.99 Core $2.99 at your local PicknPull, unfortunately the closest PicknPull to the OP is in Virginia Beach. 94
Yeah I usually hagle em for the whole assembly from the camber arms to the lca.
Just say you found it cheaper and they'll make the sale.

When I replaced my front left bearing and pressed the hub in, the entire bearing would spin inside the knuckle as I turned the hub with my hand (with a good bit of force), as you described. But of course this was with no wheel and the car jacked up, and I probably put too much grease inside the knuckle before pressing the bearing. I assume the bearing is working fine with the weight of the car down but if not I at least can't tell that's happening because everything is silent now. The good thing is that if it was the previous bearing boring inside the knuckle, at least the grease (Lucas oil X-TRA Heavy Duty) is acting as a good padding to keep the new bearing from moving side to side and causing further boring.
You should never use grease when installing bearings into knuckles or hubs into bearings. They are what is know as an interference fit and should be difficult to assemble.
