Default Worth it to get coilover sleeves for exsisting new skunk2 shocks?

In a couple days I'll be getting back into an ej8 (96 ex) after about a 5 year hiatus. The previous owner has recently (2-3 weeks ago) put Skunk 2 sport shocks on as well as tein s tech springs. He was unable to finish the whole job, so the rear passenger side is not done. When I receive the car the new shock, spring, as well as a blox gold lca will be in the trunk.

Based on the current stance of the vehicle, I already know that the s techs are not as low as I want to be. After reading a few reviews here and other places I have heard about 65% negative opinion on Skunk 2 shocks.

Should I even bother with coilover sleeves based on the reviews? If so, any recommendations (Godspeed, skunk2, megan racing)? I've only had experience with Arospeeds sleeves with kyb gr2s when I was in high school and my em1 had tein basics.

I'm not cheap, it just doesnt make sense to spend the extra money on a all in one set up if the existing piece is acceptable for something that isnt a daily driven vehicle.

How low do you want to go?

I will tell you skunk2 coilovers suck, but it might be your best bet. unless you want to spend the money on Ground control's, which I wouldn't.

I have Skunk2 sleeves, and I am unhappy with them.

Not the "hella-flush" slammed that seemed/seems to be popular, but low enough that there is little to no wheel gap.

Thats precisely it. I don't want to spend an unnesscecary amount on something that in a year or two I may not want anymore. Needless to say in the current market you will not get your money back on modifications unless it's a crazy build which this car will never be. I found the skunk2 sleeves online, as well as Godspeed and Megan racing. I really want to avoid the eBay brands.

In what way? Ride quality? Ease of use and install? Quality in general?

I don't expect a smooth gentle ride. I've got the 09 Fit DD for that.

That is about where I am at, about 1/2 to a finger gap in front, 1 finger in rear. Perfect height IMO.

What you could also do is pull the tein's, and pick up some H&R race springs. They will get you low, but be warned the ride will suffer. They are stiff, and the Skunk2 shocks aren't known for being comfy. Infact, none of Skunk2 suspension parts are known for comfort. lol

Ride quality is terrible, granted some on this is the result of my current shocks. However, I have had other shocks on the car and the ride was still poor. It's stiff, harsh, and bounces. Not to mention, the parts, really aren't that great. The springs are known to have issues.

Install, same with any other sleeve. However, Skunk2 sends you 2 gold rings for the front shocks. Which I reccomend NOT using. They hold the sleeve up a little highier on the shock, and likely for a good reason, but you will never get a good drop with them in.

I took mine out, and all is fine.

If you aren't that worried about the ride, consider just getting new springs.

You should be able to get a 100 or so for the tein springs, and that will help off set the cost of the new ones.

This is right where I want to be. This was my old civic before I wrecked it.

I appreciate your input and honesty. I will forgo putting on the teins and put on something else and put the extra money towards another set of white f2s.
