Default How to keep Cruise control with aftermarket wheel

Okay this is my first attempt at a DIY so hopefully this helps some people..

This was performed on a 97 Integra DB8.

I have always wanted to do a personal steering wheel but never wanted to give up my cruise control. Well after talking with a good friend of mine on how he did a customers EG we came up with a plan on how to do my integra.

First thing you will need is the windshield wiper control stalk from an integra 2dr that has the rear wiper controls on it.

second you will need the harness on the clock spring that goes from oem cruise control buttons to the clock spring.

basically you will be using the rear wiper controls to turn on the CC...

first you will need the connector that plugs into the bottom of the stalk that goes to the rear wiper controls

it's the one on the bottom it has 5 pins in it

i just cut this connector off as I have a 4 door and don't have a rear wiper

next you have to cut the connector that plugs into the back of the clock spring

you will using this harness you connect everything together

then you need to connect some wires.

The wires should connect like this

connect the GREEN/BLACK wire from the wiper to the LIGHTGREEN/RED wire of the clock spring harness

and the BLUE/BLACK wire from the wiper to the BLUE/GREEN wire of the clock spring harness

after I connected the wires I tucked every together and taped it back up..this is what it looked like done

Size: 32.4 KB

okay so the harness end of the clock spring plugs into this plug under the dash

and of course the other end plugs into the windshield wiper stalk.

this shows both connectors plugged in

The only thing left to do is button everything up....

to activate the cruise all you have to do if toggle the rear wiper switch to the either the top or buttom wiper fluid control and your good

if you have any questions feel free to contact me with any questions... hope this helps

Quick vid

Nice effort but here's what I think is a better DIY. Use the buttons of your choice as long as they're momentary switches.

yea I have seen that... but I didn't want some crappy aftermarket buttons in my car i wanted it to look stock...

my buddy one upped that and used a sunroof switch in his EG so it looks OEM.....

and the wiring in the EG is different then in an Integra....

but to each his own

I'm hoping someone with a some electrical knowledge can answer this question. Is it possible to wire up the rear wiper switch to activate RESUME/accel and the SET/decel with the washer on (up) and washer on (down). Or is this impossible because the signal for both (up) and (down) washer on is the same?
