WOW THIS IS NUMBER #509!!! Quite possibly the very ast 97 ITR in the sequence The Registry goes up to #508; there cant be many more above it, if ANY!! I would bet that it possibly is the last!

The rear impact did not seem to disturb the trunk tub from what is shown in the pics. Super opportunity here in my opinion.

db

EDIT: I stand corrected.... 514 was the last '97

How is it a 97 when it has a 98 rear bumper?

And according to Honda for 1997 there were 500 that were supposed to be made and I was told that only 318 of them were and shipped 6 months late for 1997.

So... What you have there is not a 97.... Which means that the front end had been replaced.

Haha, I wonder if the OP has personal reasons as to why he's so excited about this 97 w/ 98 bumper and rear end damage????????

Totally wrong. Look at the vin. It's a 97. Some numbers were skipped in the badge order. Highest 97 is 514.

Nicely said. The badge number DID NOT REPRESENT THE ORDER of production. It was pretty random.

Just be excited Goose....The 97' is rare....sure its salvage but it is an intriguing listing.. I feel lucky when I see a Low mileage/ good paint/interior and seats in near MINT condition?! Who knows how much damage there was from the rear end impact but I figure it llike this:

Generally a vehicle is deemed "salvage" when the insurer determines that the repair or replacement cost is in excess of approximately 75% of its market value at the time of the accident or theft. The car was salvaged in 2004 as shown in the CarFax.

So the threshold in determining salvage status would be much lower based upon the current larket value of the car. So yes... I beleive new bumper work, tailgate work, a correct 97' ITR hatch, some paint and labor could definataly slavage a 7 year old car.

The floor pans in the trunk look original from the pics I saw on the photobucket in the EBAY auction.

This is my logic.

Hell put a 97 bumper on it and some oem wheels and be set. Just my 2 cents.

I apologize, I did not know that the 97 badging is at random.... The more I think about that, I would highly disagree with the randomness of numbering cars. The Japanese are very meticulous when it comes to things like this and making something like this willinilly would be a fat chance. It would have to be a big reason to do it.... IMO. Do we have proof of the random numbering?
What sucks for me is that I get different stories. Years ago when I registered #40 on the registry it only went up to the 200's...
Who could we go to to get the facts about the numbering?

Btw... The evil about car fax is no matter how perfect you make the car it will always have a salvaged title... And that sucks. Based on your pricing, mine should be worth 30k!

I wish you luck selling it... if the mileage is truly 35k, it is a gem... Get the OEM RIMS FOR IT.

I've seen much cleaner, accident free examples FS on these forums. Sounds like you have a stake in this vehicle. Instead of masking this fun fact we'd be alot more "excited" had you been honest

Wow... all the haters on this thread seem to have the yellow ITR's. Maybe they can become part of the Championship White Car thread instead of just visiting it so much.....
Just my opinion,

what a dumbas$, the op is trying to sound smart by giving out facts of why the car was given a salvage title. he probably thought hed make out more money in the end if he settled for the salvage vehicle , paid some shop 2k to fix it and now wants to sell this hunk of cw metal for more than street value.
