b17 rotating assembly over b16a.. worth the effort/money???
so a guy kinda local is selling a b17a crank and rod and i have a b16a sb with a spun bearing... will the b17a make a noticeable bump in power over the b16a? ive always wanted to do this mini "stroker" setup but dont kno if its worth my time n money.. or just repair my b16a? or put in a more simple question, what kinda power output does an average b17a putout? (intake, header, exhaust, cams)
Since you spun a bearing and that's going to require an engine rebuild anyway, you might as well upgrade to the b17A crank. You'd probably have to turn down the old crank anyway. The b17a crank will give you roughly 10 more hp and tq and I can't see how it will cost you much more money.
I got 150 dynojet WHP with just 96+ GSR cams, a JG Edelbrok header, and a tune on my old stock block B17A1.
I would go for it if the price is right.

Whats the point when you can make it a 1.8 for just as much money?
Or do a LSV?
Seems odd to put the extra time into something that will net lower gains.
