Del sol Color
Looking for a color to paint my del sol. I'm not looking for anything ricey, just something that'll look good. I currently have milano red on it, half of it is stock and the front end of it, including the doors, looks like it has been re-painted and clear-coated. The clear is already flaking and there is drips in the paint. The rear end is all faded and full of swirls, it really just needs re-done. If I can get a slightly darker/deeper tint of milano red, something that won't fade over time and will have some good depth/reflection to it, I'll put that on it. I would rather not get into tearing the whole car down, I just wanna paint all the outside and door sills so I can move on with it. Any ideas on a good color? I like the stock Samba Green Pearl, and the Captiva Blue Pearl, and then there's my Milano "Red". Also like a graphite color.
color changes do require you to tear the car down. otherwise the jams will be a different color and if you can like the job after that it's on you.
the red is fading on your del sol because it's single stage probably. honda shot many cars in single stage in the 90's and less as it got closer to 2000.

Iv never heard of a production honda using a single stage paint? have any examples?
The milano red is a tri-stage paint and requires a red mid coat as apposed to your other color choices that are both 2-stage i believe. I was going to re-spray my car milano again but with out the mid coat it dident look right to me. The guy at the shop said a laser red might do the trick but i just picked a diffrent color.

I'm not very fond of Candy Apple red. Looking for just a darker tint of Milano Red. Sherwin-Williams quoted me around $500 for all the primer, paint, and clear in Milano. Sound right?
@Davis- that is a NICE sol

That's about right if there giving you the mid coat as well, why Sherman? The only line from them I heard was good and worth using was the AWX line. Not sure how much that cost, just sayin.
Look in the phone book for paint stores and call around, don't be afraid, they usually love to help. I went with PCL primer (I really like)...Limco paint (I like)....and omni clear (don't like so much).
I'm confused about all the paint types and what type/brand/coating to get. Base/clear? Tricoat? Two stage? I'm confused? I just want to strip the car down, prime, paint two coats so it doesn't fade, and clear, then cut and polish so my car and look new again.
that is way too much go to tcpglobal.com and order your kit sherwin will knock ur head off
I know they dont spray lacquer on cars anymore but i guess its just an opinion ive just had good results with it. I just sprayed my sol with it go check it out in my garage it turned out great I still gotta clear it
