How do you guys mount your short harnesses?
Other then the NRG harness bar and a cage is there anyway i can mount the harnesses?
I have an Benen B pillar bar but im not sure if it is meant to have harnesses mounted to it.

thanks Scott... I have been waiting for one of these to show up.
havent seen one in a spell but its prime for a flame, or mild scorch.
You would actually consider using one of these cheap.. flimsy pieces of crap?
http://www.benen.com/index.php?optio..._id=3&Itemid=3
Your cars stock seat belts do a better job of keeping you safe than one of these.
Seriously.... thats a first class trip to your local emergency room or county morgue if you use one of these so called harness bars.
Only mount approved harnesses In accordance with the manufacturers instructions, and like Charles says above. Roll bar or cage with a cross bar will be the correct way.
Nothing less.

This is EXACTLY why i asked about the Benen bar, I had a hunch that it wasn't meant for mounting harnesses to but wasnt totally sure. This is probably just meant to be some sort of "bracing" for the chassis. That clears it up, i dont cut on my builds, if i need a harness bar then i will order one, problem solved...
then grab the bar and yank on it as hard as you can. if it flexes even slightly, then don't use it for anything other than hanging clothes on.
This is ignoring the fact it offers zero roll-over protection.
I did some further research and have decided to have a rollbar welded in with a harness bar for mounting them. I am 6 3" so in the event of a roll over i will be wanting the rollbar.
Thanks guys
Thanks guys
ok you need to do more research...
reading the sticky would of enlightened you on harnesses./roll bars and cages.
Searching harness bars or anything using google, and honda tech in the search thread would of brought you this result and much info and guidance on the dangers of harness bars.
https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...ht=harness+bar
The ugly pics are gone but the comments would of opened your eyes.
So if you are thinking about asking about roll bars, and cages... start reading there is much covered on it.
You'll be asking for a super flame from the members in here if you dont do your due diligence.

i suggest u go on google use the search button for about 3 or 4 days read everything u can... before u come on here to make a post.. these guys will put i in a forest fire with no way out... even when u agree with them still they will torch u ! good day ;0
The point of this thread was to see how everyone had their harnesses setup, custom harness bars, cages, other options, etc. Ive been here since 04 I know how the forum reacts when you dont use the "search" button, and rightfully so, The title is How do YOU guys mount YOUR harnesses" Not" how do i install short harness" I can go to Takatas website and view their installation guide for that. It was meant to be more a reference thread to see individual setups they are using, sorry if i wasn't clear enough, ill take the fault, I admit i should have been more title specific. Thanks to Dirty19 i have learned the dangers of a failure possibility in a harness bar in the event of an accident, i thank him for that, i will be doing my research on my decision to have a roll/harness bar installed.
Hope that clears up the misunderstanding of my original intent.

I think if you do some Google searching of this site and maybe a few others, with the idea of understanding why and how the roll cage, harness, seat, side nets, and HnR function together as an integrated system, then you will be able to make an informed choice on your own safety.
Crash protection is very good on modern cars, and I've seen a lot of stuff that I would consider a safety downgrade.

The reason people get flamed alot in here is because they are too damn lazy to read.
We see many redundant posts of everything.
Most want pictures of what every one has done, or the ever so popular..
"Help me set up my car"... gawd thats a can of worms.
Then theres the "I wanna race! Help me build a car, ohh btw I have never driven on the track before"
Spoon feeding people isnt what we do.
We like to guide, and offer opinions based on our experiences.
Then there are those who get mad because they didnt get the answer they wanted.
They just dont get it that in racing its trial and error.
You have to test test test to find out what works for you and within your budget.

Im just pointing this out, its not Honda-Tech social club its "technical forum"
I have been there and I agreee. Back in the day you could put all you want in the search box and nothing would come up that was related, now the search engine is much better but not ideal and clear in some cases, so asking is the only option at that point. Many kids on here are know it alls and are just too cool to help someone out. This is why if I see a good question asked in a post instead of adding to the fire I PM them and try to help because I would want someone to guide me if I was lost. In the end we are all Honda lovers and sharing is what makes friends and our hobby stronger.
Its true, it is time this is pointed out to the OG's in the forum, glad some of you have eyes open to this fact. Im still a noob and have noticed the problem already. Sometimes search isnt the answer, i spend more time lurking then posting.

ok u want a better answer.. no don't use ricer c pillar bars to mount ur harnesses .. get a 4 point or a harness bar... can we end this thread here? good day buddys
If the noobs read read read instead of posting redundant threads there would be more harmony.
Also they need to keep in mind that there are some accomplised racers and mechanics here like Justin.
Listen to their advice and stop trying to build a race car with no track experience.
Building a car to go fast when you cant drive a stock car fast does the driver no good at all.
Racecraft first. When you can drive the wheels off a bone stock car, only then you should consider upgrading.
Simple and the right thing to do.
The best thing to do is find an experienced driver and become good friends.
They can teach you alot and keep you on the right track as far as when its time to buy this or that.
