Default Questions regarding H23 to H22.

I've got a 95 lude that was H23. The timing belt broke and now I've decided to drop an H22 into it.

Can somebody reconfirm that I won't need to change the stock transmission?

Will I need to purchase the ECU with the H22 that I am acquiring?

Thanks,

Phil E

Transmissions between all H/F series are interchangeable, you will need a P13 ECU though.

Do yourself a favor with this motor since you didn't take care of the old, change the timing belt, water pump, 5 oil seals on the timing side and rear main seal before you swap so you don't have to worry about major problems. Just because it's a low mileage swap doesn't mean the t-belt wont break because rubber still deteriorates with time.

Yeah I took care of the last one. Pretty sure the belt didn't even have more than 30k miles on it. I believe it was due to a shady mechanic in Corona CA, named Onda Pro. The name should have given it away but he was referred to me.

Thanks for the heads up anyways.

Unless fuel mileage is a major concern, get the H22 tranny. The gearing is designed that if you do it right in WOT, you won't fall out of VTEC. However, the H23 tranny DOES bolt right up.
You will need the P13 ECU but otherwise, being that it's already OBD1, it's a direct swap for everything.
Good luck!

With the H22, you should either convert to the H23 timing tensioner set up or the Kaizenspeed solid tensioner.
