Default Wiring harness swap.

This may go in a diff section and if it does let me know or feel free to move it. I was not sure where to put it.

I have a 93 Del Sol Si manual trans. I had a short in Sept of 2010 and I have been fighting probs after probs and now the motor is built and in the car it wont start. I am thinking it may be due to the short.

I can pick up a 95 Civic Ex chassis and engine harness from a parts car me and a buddy are goin to pick up Sunday. The Ex is a auto. That wont be hard to make work though. Just wire it like a auto to man swap. My question is what about all the other wiring like my door switches, tail lights, dash wiring, rear window wiring and etc.

Does anyone know of a write up anywhere on the swap or how to do it? I havent been able to find anything.

For the engine harness problem it should be an easy fix. Do you have the harness out of the car?
Why do you want to change the cabin harness? By saying short do you mean your battery doesn't hold a charge or you aren't getting a proper 12v to your ecu and rest of your harness.
I would fix the harness you have now and not mess with the cabin wiring.
Start ohm'ing out all your wires and fix any that are damaged.
You get a sensor ground from one source a straight ground from one source a 12v source and an ecu output 12v source iirc.

The short is in the cabin harness. Some wires are shorted together. Main power wire to main relay shorted into my yellow with black switched power wire somewhere in the main cabin harness.

So pull the dash and remove the harness, "open" the harness up from the PGM-FI Main Relay back as far as you need to to find the short and fix that.

That will probably take less time and effort then doing a swap to an auto harness, it will definatly be a lot easier.94

I have done that as far as I could. Its not quite as easy as that. It is all in both fuse block harness sections, the piece behind all the AC stuff that runs across the firewall and where it all branches. I would basically have to pull all the loom from the front half of the chassis harness and redo it all after tracing down almost all wires. Will also have to pull harness through fire wall and unhook the engine bay fuse block. If doing all that might as well just swap it if they will. I know I will have to add the wiring for the rear window but I think that may be about it I am just unsure of the plugs on the window switches and to connect to the dash sub harness.

All. You need is the wiring schematic of your car and a multi meter it won't be hard to find a short if you have the helms.

Okay. Start where the problem is. What doesn't work on your car?. What shorts? What symptoms can you give? you said its in the fuse box?
Did something burn?

You should test the ignition switch. My car would only start and stay running if I kept cranking the starter. The contacts where worn out. The ignition switch can be remove the the steering column and disassembled. It sounds like a piece of metal in stuck inside.
