Icon3 CRASH COARSE on ENGINE SWAP!!! suggestions on 94' SI HATCHY!

I just bought this 94' SI CIVIC, and not knowing the condition of the engine drove it to hard on the HWY.. Blew the Engine (D16Z6)..!! trying to keep up with CALI traffic going 85mph @ 3500 rpms, was stupid on my part..

So here i am now, gotta do an ENGINE SWAP, need a CRASH COARSE on best engine combos.. Any suggestions thx...

Replace it with the same engine. Plug-n-play.

The only finds in my area are a F23a1 V-TEC 80k for $500, and a K20 w/20k for $1300... But your right as far as PLUG & PLAY is wht I'm preferring .... THX

here we go . . . he asks for a simple answer and someone has to come in with a (just put a totally different motor which needs totally different mounts, trans, clutch, axles, shiftlinkage) I think its best if you keep your .02 cents

agreed, i purchased my first honda which was an si from auction that came with a botched b18 swap, talk about crash course... if zendog needs his car on the road... get stock motor... if he wants to put time in doing research like i did then by all means, this site has all the info on doing swaps. dont plan on cheap, quick or easy...

I found an exact engine!!!! in nearby city... D16Z6 Head & Block!!! cool... at $900 it seams expensive, but its totally rebuilt BRAND NEW EVERYTHING!! Photos of build during various stages look MIRACULOUS!!!! probably gunna overspend but don't have time to research everything, MINI-ME sounds COOL and would love to drop a B16 DOHC V-TECH but dont wanna pay for all the SWAP changes, and sounds like it could get even pricier....

Damn this comment bit u in the ***.
For a couple hundred more he can get atleast an ls and have more power torque and room to grow if it gets boosted.
900 on a single cam doesn't sit right

Uh, no. Do the math
$800 LS
$350 trans
$150 clutch
$130 axles
$200 mounts
$80 ecu
$150 shift linkage
plus fluids.

$900 for a rebuilt with paperwork and a warrantee doesn't sound bad.

$300? Nah man. Maybe a stolen LS that burns oil. Importers charge $800 for them. Hydro LS tranny that grinds can be had for $200, Il give you that.

Found a REBUILT D16Z6!!! Exact engine for replacement. It came with Tranny, DC HEADERS (CALI) edition, a THROTTLE BODY SPACER and some sort of dual tip performance exhaust, P28 ECU W/WIRING, two CLUTCH DISKS.. All for $425..!!.. now to do the SWAP!!!

Figure a local mechanic will do it for $400 to $500....

See told you single cams are cheap. I would never pay 900 for a single camer..
Good find.
If you have a basic tool set and jack do it yourself.
Take off the tranny the head and block 4 hour job.
