Scraping sound when I come off the gas; 1999 Honda Civic EX D16y8
Hi
My cars got about 157k miles on it. Stock D16Y8 no mods.
The cars been running excellent. I had a bit of an exhaust leak but that may be besides the point, it's fixed.
This is the first time ive experienced this sound in my 6 months of ownership.
So it was pretty cold out last night i started my car up and i went into first gear and drove off. I engaged the clutch to slowly change the gear and as i released the gas to do that, I hear this metal scraping sound. So i try and see if it does it again and it does but only when coming off the gas.
I got home safely and i sat in the parking lot and gassed it up in neutral and i hear a major hiss it was so random.
This morning i went to go see if the scraping sound was still there so i started the car and popped the hood. Car was in neutral, i played with the throttle on the Intake Manifold and surely everytime i'd let go of the throttle id hear the scraping coming from in the engine bay. Ive got no idea where this sound is coming from but I am nervous its coming from the motor though i hope not.
I know before i bought the car it sat for 3 years undriven. Thats about it, theres no knocking that i can hear.
Any ideas?

Hey, first I wanna thank you guys for the suggestions.
I did check everything. Its coming from the block for certain. I hear it more on the underside of the car from the oil pan. The cars still running excellent and the sound isnt that loud but it's definitely there. any ideas?

If you have warn or torn motor mounts it will cause your motor to shift enough to hit and or scrap ****. I had torn front torque mounts in my old Hatch with a b20 Vtec and it had enough movment with the torn tourque mounts to hit my hood.

Ok so that morning I went out to play with the throttle, the car was in neutral and I would still get the sounds. Is it even possible for it to be the transmission if the car wasn't in gear? I'll have the mounts checked out.
On another note, if it's a spun rod in the motor wouldn't it knock? I'm just asking in case this is the worst case scenario.

So i checked. I revved it up with the clutch pressed in and the sound still exist. I did it again in neutral with the pedal unpressed and it makes the sound. I took it to my mechanic and it didnt make the sound while he was pulling the throttle cable. Seems inconsistent. Any ideas?
Ok, So last night Im starting my car in the cold and the came scraping sound is happening in neutral without me pressing on any pedals. So it's doing it on it's own now and it sounds very sporadic.
