Diamond Racing Steelies on 2nd gen Civic?
I know they've been played out for awhile, but I've considering keeping my 2nd gen civic and doing something with it. These rims are pretty cheap, and I've always liked the looked as long as you didn't go too wide. Has anyone put these on their 2nd gen civic? Have any photos?

I beg of you, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please do NOT do this to that car. Not only are they "played out," but they would be incredibly ugly on that car. Wide or narrow, black, green, orange, white or polished doesn't matter. Hideously and ridiculously ugly is what that would be.
I won't say how I truly feel about this, lolol.
But definitely get that car back on the road, dude. Nice gloss black steel wheels with chrome trim rings (like mine, lolol) or even some Panasports would look nice enough.
Good luck, though.

I like panasports but they are $$$, and also not very original. Who makes a good knock off that is offered in descent sizes?
I like the DR steelies because they remind me of the civic in this old thread I posted awhile back:
https://honda-tech.com/forums/classic-hondas-106/track-ready-1974-honda-civic-1200-56k-beware-2210243/
This car was the reason I kept the civic to eventually do something. I'm now debating what to do with it.

In the end, it's your car so do with it what you will. I don't think it will look ugly because damn near every "fanboi" has them. I think they just look terrible on these compact cars. Especially these older Civics.
Trust me, I do understand. My first car was a 1983 Civic. I got it when it was only 3 years old (got it in 1986). I had an '83 Civic wagon years later and a '77 Civic after that and now currently daily a '79 Civic.
Panasports aren't that pricey if you keep looking. Also, a couple of companies offer a knock off. Revolution does. You have an easier task than I do because you have the common lug pattern. The perfect size for that '83 is 13" and no more.
They don't look like them to me.
Do something with it. Make it look original with a little flair to it. My CVCC is lowered with a front air dam and an old set of wheels on it. These cars are so nice that they look good just put into dealer shape.

They reminded me of that car, I didn't say they looked like them. I was referring more to the stance of the wheels on the civic. I like the wider wheels vs whats on there now. [/quote]

Yessir. Also, Compmotive makes a replica set.
Ok. You were saying something that I got a different meaning out of. I see what you're saying now. You can get any wheel, though, pretty much, to get that "stance" you want.

When you get those installed, please get some photos online. I haven't decided on wheels, but I'm trying to figure out what size it going to look the best on these cars.
any one know if i could get problems some how with my ej2 coupe, by having 2 VX wheels in the front and 2 HX wheels in the back........lol!!
I do see how you'd have any problems. I don't know offhand what the sizes of each rim are, but I'm assuming they are slightly different. If your car was awd it would be a problem to have different sized rims on the front and back, but a fwd or rwd it's not a problem.
You were telling me, you were begging me.
I hope you're joking. Leave this kind of attitude off HT. We all will have our own tastes, and opinions. Just because they are "played out" doesn't mean he shouldn't post up photos when he gets them on the car. I'm sure I'm not the only one that appreciates when ANYONE does something with a 2nd gen civic, even if I personally don't like the way it looks.
I've read plenty of your posts/threads and I appreciate everything you've offered to the community. To top it off you also have a really nice classic honda. Can't we all just get along?

I guess I was, wasn't I? Lolol. Well, you know (I hope you do anyway) that I wasn't really telling you what to do. It's your car so how could I possibly tell you what to do. Don't confuse Johnny B. Goode's misplaced comment cloud you on my posts. my posts were simply my opinions.
Not sure where the attitude is. I'm good. As always.
Has nothing to do with "played out."
I'm one of those that appreciates a nice, tastefully done 2nd gen. My second car was a 1983 hatch and I still have a 1983 wagon. But just because I like these cars doesn't mean I'm going to automatically appreciate something that, to me, looks bad.
I appreciate the compliment, but let me be the first to tell you, I've really not offered anything, lolol.

No sir. Just a couple of pics of it from 1995. It's out in Texas. I bought it in 1995 and drove it for the two years I lived there and it died on me and I took a Greyhound back to Atlanta and never went back to get the car.
I lowered it via removing the front springs and removing all but the main rear leaf and flipping it upside down. The wheels are Prime 13x7 reverse (made for RWD cars) with BFG Euro TA 175/50-13 tires.
The picture on the very bottom is of my '83 hatch. It was taken in 1988 and it sits beside my Mom's '88 Accord. She had just gotten it. I eventually ended up with that Accord.

Don't know, man. Back then, there really wasn't talk about offsets. Wheels were mainly set up as RWD or FWD. Dished wheels were for RWD vehicles while Little to no dish were for the FWD. So we would be RWD wheels and put them on FWD cars.
Another member gave me some photos for reference. I think they look pretty good. I'm digging the early rabbit fender flares.
409-EF8, I still want to see yours <hint hint>

ehh. car does nothing for me.. not with those wheels at least. sorry, i'm with stretch on this one. get something else.. look into getting maybe some ROTA RB's. or the competition V2's or whatever they are called. (knockoffs of 13x8 TE37's in a low offset). now either of those on that car would look sweet.. personally...
My personal tastes have been confirmed with these pics. Terrible. It sucks (to me, of course) that you have the option to put most any style wheel on your car and you're considering these. Lolol. I have to take what's been out there from twenty-five-plus years ago.
Let me reiterate that I'm not trying to look down on you, RuskeR.
