all depends on how much power you are making, if you have a stock to semi built b series making like 220whp your stock gears will be fine, but once you start making big power and drag all the time then you will want to upgrade the trans

Having ultra short gears for street use is plain silly IMHO.

slicks will kill the stock boxes faster than 3xx whp ever would. as for how well they live, look in the FI and drag section. a lot of 400whp have made it awhile on stock boxes.

so this would be the best choice: Gear X: GX-HO-B-CR5
Ultra close race #1
1st, 3rd, 4th 5th
Suitable for modified B16a and B18c short course racing and drag with 4.2, 4.4 or 4.7 final
1st 3.07 [2nd OEM 2.105] 3rd 1.695 4th 1.385 5th 1.14
Kit consists of seven gears.

Do you have a thread that details your engine? I'm curious to know your setup that got you to 240-260 whp.

I'm going to wake the thread back up. I too would like to know what this build consist of. If this thing is making even 240 WHP out of a 1.8 N/A it's a serious high strung monster tuned on the ragged edge for sure.

I'm curious too, i have never seen an N/A B18 1.8L make that kind of power. It's usually the kind of number a newer k Series 2.4L would make with extra mods

I was referring to a 1.8 though. I've seen several 250 WHP 2.0 ltr builds with big 84+mm sleeves and an 89+mm crank. One heck of a price tag comes with making 250 on a B series N/A.
