Default F22b+H22 head?

Alright so the deal is my friend pretty much accidentally bought an F22 for his 97 prelude, the title for the sell was kinda misleading and its his first honda, so hes kinda stuck with it. He was wondering if he could use the head off his stock H22 and make it vtec and perform like the H22?

He isnt looking for anything super performance, he bought the car only with the intention of daily driving it seeing as how he is an american car guy with more fast cars and projects than he can remember. The H22 is shot is the only reason he was swapping it for a new one. He just doesnt want to drop the 40 or so horsepower with the F22, he likes the way the car runs now. And honestly is runs pretty darn good for a header back exhaust only car.

Really he just wants to know is it possible? How hard would it be? And is he better off just getting an H22? I've never dealt with either engine so i'm asking for him.

Thanks guys

He can do it if he has the h22 block complete and you would need a couple of things from the h22 block and cover two oil holes where the timing belt side. search it you will see all the info.

Sure it can be done. However, if he's not going to do anything internally to bump the compression of the F22 block. I would say to get another complete H22. Now! If he wants to play with a little bit of boost. Then the H22 head/F22 block hybrid might be something to look into.

Thanks guys, i was looking when i made this thread and shortly after found a couple good sources and found out about the oil holes and the tidbits he would need to do. I'm trying to get him to either return the engine or sell it locally and rebuild the H22. We can do anything engine wise we have to, so i dont understand why he didnt do that to begin with lol.

Thanks for the info though!
