my car is 90 crx si, with 230,000 miles, i have noticed a squealing sort of whirring noise, mostly when going at slow speeds, like if i go up a driveway and then put it in reverse to back out of the driveway and manoevering around parking lots or just trying to park along a curb and lining the car up with the curb, etc . . .
i hear it from the rear, seems from the rear wheels to me, its not only when going in reverse, i also hear it if just coasting real slowly to park lining car up to the curb in front of my place.
its hard describing sounds, but its just a mild "whirring" sound, like something that has'nt been oiled . . .,
does that sound like a symptom for anything going bad anyone knows about ??
or anything that comes to mind that i can check ??? like wheel bearings ? brake parts ? or any other parts in the rear of the car that could make a noise like that ???
any input would be cool, thanks

thanks, i'll be sure to check that, i was planning on replacing pads on all wheels soon,
any other things anyone think it could be ? could it be wheel bearings?
keep in mind it does'nt do it while going up to speed like at 30 mph or higher, i just seem to hear it only going slow speeds manoevering car around to park or going in reverse.
is there any parts around the rear wheels that need lubricating with grease or anything ?, like parts that would have to do with rotation ?

I just remembered, check your trailing arm bushings.
20 year old car never been replaced, more than likely it's time
Could be just worn bushings. I think wheel bearings are more noticeable

couple weeks ago i took my car in to a suspension/frame shop , so he could look over everything on the lift,
he noted all the things needing replacement, and i made sure he covered everything i could think of.
he did definately tell me my Trailing Arm bushings were in need of replacement, but he said it was'nt necessary compared to the other stuff i needed up front, and that it would only improve tracking a little and maybe get rid of some squeaky sounds around that area, so i will do at a later time after i first take care of fixing the stuff up front.
but i forgot to mention the "Whirring thing" which i made this post about, cause i
took it in to fix pass. side stuff damaged from curb hit, so i can get aligned correct again.
yeah, it could probably just be old bushings making noise while they rub against stuff, or a part thats slightly loose moving around a bit, but for the most part i doubt it is anything serious, but i will take a look around that area as soon as i get around to it, and i'll just jack the rear up and spin the wheels and move stuff around and see if the brake compenents are all secure and tight, as well as rear sway bar, bushings, etc ...
i could probably figure it out if i just messed with it, i was just putting post on here to see if it sounded like a common symptom of a certain part going bad or needing replacement
thanks for your thoughts
