I have a 94 Honda Civic EX. Recently my RMP gauge hasn't been working. The speedometer works fine. The RPM side just stays at about 750 as if it is idling while I am driving. Once every now and then it works for a bit and stops working. Anyone have experienced this problem before? Any help would be appreciated. Car has about 190k on it. Thanks in advance!

 

Check your wires going into your distributer and make sure none are loose or broken off.

 

Sounds like a bad tach.

 

If its stuck at 750 it's more than likely a bad tach. If it were a short or open it wouldn't work at all, and if it were to work intermittently it wouldnt work at all, then it would, wouldnt be stuck at 750.

 

Def a bad tach... friends speedo was doing this so i gave her my tach before i sold my hatch

correct me if im wrong but speedo has nothing to do with tach. it just proves cluster is working
