I'm about to pick up a stock Type-S and I just want to lower it, that's it.

From my experience with the DC2 and CIvic's, my best combo for comfort and usability was putting the springs from a 96-00 Civic into the Integra ...

Based on your guys' experience with the RSX, what is the more comfortable suspension? I'm never going to track the car, I'm going to drive it on normal roads. I'd like to go as low as I can without sacrificing TOO much ride quality.

get a set of eibach sportline springs and call it a day. first thing i did when i got mine (long time ago)... road like stock and looked much better.

 

I have d2 coilovers on my type s they feel amazing...im from jersey and drive my car every day, jersey is full of nasty potholes and they still feel good in any surfuse.. I love d2s , get them now cuz I have heard people saying that they are going to get really expensive soon

 

if you want to slam it like it sounds like then you loose a lot of comfort and driveability... but look at F&FIIs if thats the case.

 

Nah I'm over slamming my cars but i dont like any gap (maybe 1 finger) ...speed bumps used to be the enemy haha

 

I have a set of Eibach pro kit springs. They are pretty close to a stock ride. $130 shipped if you want them. (02-04 RSX)

 

will they fit the 05-06?

I have a set of Eibachs on stock struts lying around. Had them on my DC5 and loved them. 2005 Type-S

Get the Tein basics. Theyll go low enough and still give you reasonable ride quality.

Hey broski, ive been researching the same thing
I have heard nothing but good from Progress coilovers, D2 coilovers, Tein, and fucntion/form coils.

If you only want a 1 inch drop, aspec suspension made by acura does this and its like 650 new. Its a mild drop though, Eibach will drop a little more.

 

me too lately - heard good things about the progress coilovers but to start I'm just looking for some springs that will do the job

 

I love the look of the A-spec suspension some of the others are too low for me. But again I was more concerned with not getting too many chips / bottoming out

base/type s = same suspension. As long as you have the right app. (02-04 or 05-06)I just got a dc5 too. Trust me, Your shocks ride good now but watch what happens when you slam it. RSX's are heavy. anyways heres what i got in my research depending on how low you wanna drop and how much you really care about ride quality/handling

(google sale or ebay ) Skunk 2 Lowering Springs $185 ( F 2.25'' R 2.0 '' ) ( for slamming your car their springs suck tho)
(google sale or ebay ) Eibach Lowering Springs $185 ( F 2.0 R 1.75'') ( Eliminate wheel well clearance but not covering tires )

(google sale or ebay) Tein S tech $180 (F 1.7'' R 1.4'') ( waste of money. They make your car still look stock height)

FYI about those D2 lowering springs $150 ( F 2.0'' R 2.0'' ) ( ok, but have a possible chance of front and rear not looking even )

I'm gonna go with Eibach myself. you can google rsx with eibach lowering springs and that will give you an image what it will look like. Check out Clubrsx.com and what ppl think.

 

^ dude, that's awesome - and pretty much what I've been finding. I've had S-tech's before and they're not bad but they do drop the rear a little more than I would like and not dropping the front as much as I would like.

To solve the ride quality on the integra (and drop it a TINY bit more) I went with the springs from a CIvic. Wondering if I go with the base springs, what that will do ...

 

I hang sooo many car fourms, from vettes to miatas and mr2's, scca road race to the ring's tt sight..........only honda and subi sights have people talking about "finger gaps" and "wheel gap"....thus....the honda forums are the short bus of car groups.

one peace of advice....spring rates set damper rates....if you change your springs, change your dampers.

Very good thread... Im in the same boat and wanted to point out that there are 2 types of Eibach springs. The Sportline which is mentioned here and also the pro kit which is only a moderate drop. 1" Front and 1.4" Rear I believe.

I can also vouch for Suspension techniques as being a great option for a set of spring, that ride very well. Priced well too

 

You picked the *wrong* car if you want to lower it and not affect ride quality or suspension geometry.

My advice: get the OEM A-Spec kit and be done. Don't screw around with junk coilovers (like the tein basic, D2, Megan, Skunk2, etc) and do it the way Acura engineered the car (A-Spec).

 

For the most part, i agree with this.......

As an owner of an rsx since it 1st came out in 2002, i lowered my car about 2" about the 3rd day i bought it, it it has rode so well and smoothly, i haven't touched it the past 10 years since. I think the biggest reason is that i used a nice set of lowering springs (progressive rate), as opposed to the cheap coil over setup up most commonly offered.

The oem A Spec strut and coil setup definitely is a good option too, but only lowers 1"

Hurr I want to slam my car so let me get D2/Ksport/RandomTradingCo coilovers with retarded spring rates and no R&D for cheap.

Ended up going with the Eibach Sport Lines, low enough without being TOO low and high enough to not bottom out on speed bumps. IMO, perfect balance and most of all ... functional.
