I apologize in advance for any noobness but I looked around and could not find answer. I have a 1997 civic with a d16y8. The ECU for that motor is searching for an FTP sensor that my car does not have therefore the check engine light is on and will always be on. (CODES: P0453, P0450) I read that a JDM ECU will eliminate the issue. I have a chance to pick up JDM P73, which is also why I'm posting I'm hoping for a quick response.

Now my question is will a JDM p73 eliminate that code? Also with it run my d16y8 for the time being? Im planning on getting a B-series swap down the line and do not want to run into same engine code problems.

it will eliminate the code, but it sure as hell won't run right, nor will it pass an obd2 plug-in.

bump thanks for input. Is there a JDM OBD2a SOHC Vtec ECU i could run? if so what ECU would it be?

 

a jdm ecu won't connect to a scan tool.
