Nitrous and B16A2
how much of a nitrous shot can a B16A2 handle relatively safely with the basic bolt ons? and what else should be upgraded in the process? cams, gears, pistons, springs/retainers, blah blah.
i'm lookin to spray on my hatch but am a complete rookie when it comes to n2o. i don't plan on going crazy with the bottle, i just want a little something to shut up some people when they start talkin smack.
thanx in advance

I/H/E MSD Ignition, wires, 1 step colder plugs. You should be able to handle a 75 shot no problem. Any higher i would recomend getting a MSD BTM to retard your timing, also a new clutch would be good.

i was going to go with the VENOM kit as my setup if that, from what i understand that is a pretty good kit and electronically controlled to which they say reduces the risk of engine damage.
BTW- thanx for the reply

IF I was you dont Spray, Spraying is good for only one thing and that is spooling your turbo faster, but if you want take the number of horses you have and divide it by 2 and that is the closet way to see the safest amount of nitrous for your car. But remember spraying anything will beat up a stock motor, hope it works out.

if you run a 55shot you shouldn't have to upgrade everything
if you run a 65- or higher, i would reccomend getting a FPR and upping the fuel pressure, colder plugs, and make sure you don't hit the rev limiter..and you are good to go.
(i also have a b16a2 so I would know from experience)
hope all works out and you find the answers you need here!

The statement that I bolded for example, does not pan out because I've seen nitrous take a whole second off of 1/4 mile times on some cars that were stock internalled B-Series powered.
Now again let me say that I'd personally never run nitrous and IMO it's not the best way to have power ALL the time, but it does a good job of giving you instant power when the bottle pressure is good.
If you're on a budget and you can use the nitrous conservatively, then it's a good way to make the car a great deal quicker.
...But if you're in the financial state to where nitrous is your only option, please ask yourself if you can afford to rebuild/replace the motor if it blows up from the nitrous, because it can and does happen often.
Good luck though in any way that you choose.

I'm not the biggest fan of nitrous, but I will say that your staments above are not entirely true.

i bought the zex plugs, but the NGK's that are a couple heat ranges colder should be fine...
redline-revlimiter, 2 differnt things..
revlimiter = fuel cutoff, no fuel + lots of nitrous = detonation = good bye piston rings and probably lots more...(oh yea, might blow the welds on the intake manifold too..lol (f&furious)
the MSD just cuts spark, not fuel...so revlimit there is not an issue..
and remember to fill up with 93 octane (or just whatever premium you have, it's cheap insurance for detonation)
good luck with it all!!
